Chiefs make the Coliseum their bully pulpit Empty
PostSubject: Chiefs make the Coliseum their bully pulpit   Chiefs make the Coliseum their bully pulpit EmptyMon Oct 24, 2011 3:37 am

In the most disheartening loss for the Raiders since Jon Gruden foretold their plays for the opposition in Super Bowl XXXVII, Kansas City didn't work with a pilfered head coach. The Chiefs merely swiped Hue Jackson's philosophy and used it against him.

Kansas City bullied the Raiders 28-0 on Sunday at the Coliseum. The Chiefs' methods were unconventional, but the results were devastating.

Interceptions usually go on the finesse side of a team's style ledger, but six of them constitute brutality.

Allowing the Raiders 155 yards rushing doesn't sound like wholesale jerseys from china bullying, but the sight of Michael Bush being stopped twice at the 1 strips all meaning from that statistic.

"We got our tails kicked," Jackson said.

The exhilaration of plucking Carson Palmer out of pseudo-retirement dissolved into a divisional loss at home to a team that began the season with losses of 41-7 and 48-3. Even in the transitional period while Palmer learned the playbook and Kyle Boller ran the offense, the cheap nhl jerseys Raiders should have competed in this game, if not won it and taken a 5-2 record into the bye week.

Instead, they managed to be routed by a team whose quarterback nba jerseys cheap finished the day with a 38.3 rating. The Raiders' defensive front didn't sack Matt Cassel once, and it allowed 139 yards rushing, including a 7-yard wildcat touchdown run by Javier Arenas, whose day job is as a cornerback.

The bullying began before the national anthem, and residual ugliness continued through the final handshake.

During warm-ups, a few players from both sides got into NFL Jerseys Cheap a skirmish in front of the Black Hole. None of the players could explain what triggered the fight; most simply cited divisional hostilities.

"We just don't like them," Raiders linebacker Kamerion Wimbley said succinctly.

When Jackson and Kansas City's Todd Haley met after the whistle, the Raiders' head coach wagged a finger at his counterpart and appeared to spew some unpleasantries.

"That's between me and him," Jackson said. "We get to play 'em again. We'll go to Kansas City here at some point down the road."

"Some point" would be Christmas Eve.

Given the way the Chiefs went after Palmer's knees when he replaced Boller, the holiday probably will be short on visions of sugar plums.

Kansas City managed only one sack all day, against Boller, cheap nfl jerseys but the Chiefs bruised Oakland all the same.

The game was certainly a reminder of how much the offense depends on Darren McFadden, who hurt his foot and had to watch most of the game from the sideline, along with injured kicker Sebastian Janikowski and ex-starting quarterback Jason Campbell, wearing street clothes and a sling to support his broken collarbone.

They have two weeks to get healthy, and then a matchup with Denver and its new quarterback, Tim Tebow, whose comeback overtime win in Miami was a bigger shock than Kansas City's humbling of the Raiders only a week after it almost lost to the dreadful Colts. But first, Tebow has to stay intact against the Lions, who nearly knocked out Atlanta's Matt Ryan on Sunday.

The Falcons' quarterback turned out to be fine, but his teammates briefly thought he had a serious leg injury. As the quarterback was on the ground, several Atlanta players said, Detroit's pass rushers mocked Ryan and kicked his feet, telling him to get off the field.

At least, Detroit head coach Jim Schwartz managed to get through this week's handshake without incident. As of nightfall, Jackson's relatively mild encounter with Haley appeared to be Sunday's most animated exchange.

But who knows what the video will show today? At this point, the league might have to set up a replay booth for game-ending rituals. The CBS Sports website reported Sunday that the league plans to start fining coaches if someone duplicates Schwartz's confrontation with Jim Harbaugh.

At least, one twosome left a game on very friendly, even empathetic, terms Sunday. When the bullying ended, Palmer and Cassel, once teammates at USC, met on the field. Cassel, the backup at USC, threw two picks in an entire game. Palmer, the Trojans' starter who ultimately became the No. 1 draft pick of 2003, threw three interceptions in less than a half.

"He just shook his head and laughed," Palmer said. "... He was feeling my pain, for sure."
